We naturally want to be in control of our lives. We want things to go our way, people to treat us the way we think they should, and our plans to work out the way we’ve imagined. But James reminds us that following Jesus requires something different. It requires humility—the willingness to recognize that God’s ways are better than ours—and surrender—the willingness to actually submit our lives to His direction. The question isn’t simply whether we believe in God, but whether we’re willing to let Him lead.
Main Text: James 4:10
